Our Story

Golf the High Sierra was hatched over 20 years ago as the popularity of golf in the Reno and Lake Tahoe area began to blossom and take shape. At the time, numerous new golf courses were recently built, under construction, or were planned for development, including Somersett Golf and Country Club, Old Greenwood, Gray's Crossing, Grizzly Ranch, and notable private clubs. We recognized this growing popularity and partnered with the golf courses, hotels and casinos, and regional visitors' bureaus to market the Reno/Lake Tahoe area aggressively and actively as a premier golf destination.

Through golf shows in cities across the west, a magazine publication, and through email and online marketing initiatives, that objective came true, and Golf the High Sierra became the No. 1 booking source for individual and group golf packages for Reno and Lake Tahoe broadly.

Through the years, Golf the High Sierra has established a vast customer base, maintaining repeat customers year after year for corporate and leisure golf outings. To date, Golf the High Sierra has planned and executed more than 10,000 golf outings and has developed a reputation of reliability and trust with its customer base and its golf, hotel, and service providers alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long has Golf the High Sierra been in business?+

Golf the High Sierra has been planning group golf trips since 2004 — over 20 years of direct relationships with courses, hotels, and dining venues across Reno, Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Graeagle, and Carson Valley. The business has served more than 10,000 golf groups.

What makes Golf the High Sierra different from a booking site?+

Golf the High Sierra is not a booking engine. Every trip is custom-built by our team, with one contract covering tee times, lodging, dining, and transportation — one deposit, one invoice, one point of contact. There are no booking fees, no markups, and no hidden charges. Group rates are negotiated directly with partner venues.

What group sizes does Golf the High Sierra handle?+

Groups from 4 to 400 players. The business handles small buddy trips, annual golf groups, corporate outings, tournaments, bachelor parties, and large-scale events. Group size, skill mix, and budget all factor into course selection and hotel matching.

How does the booking process work?+

Contact Golf the High Sierra with your dates, group size, and rough budget. The team builds a custom itinerary with course options, hotel options, and all-in pricing. You approve the plan, pay one deposit, and Golf the High Sierra handles every detail from tee time coordination to restaurant reservations. No booking fees, no markups.
