Eagle Valley East is the more accessible of the two courses at this 36-hole Carson City facility. A wide-open, flat layout with generous fairways, it is ideal for beginners, juniors, and golfers who prefer walking. From the back tees it stretches to 6,658 yards, but it's the kind of course where the lower-handicap in the group can still have fun going after the longer par-5s. Start here in the morning, then take on the West in the afternoon — two very different experiences on the same property for a price that beats anything near Tahoe.'

Eagle Valley West is the championship layout at Carson City's 36-hole municipal facility. A desert links-style course opened in 1987, it winds through the foothills with significant elevation changes, native high-desert vegetation lining the fairways, forced carries over water, and panoramic views of the Carson Valley. At 6,851 yards from the tips with a slope of 131, it challenges accomplished golfers while remaining playable for mid-handicappers willing to take their medicine. Our team's note: 'West has real personality — dog legs, canyons to carry, holes up in the foothills. Wedge it into the middle of a 3 or 4-day trip and the price will help your budget.'

Genoa Lakes Golf Club's Lakes Course is a links-style masterpiece co-designed by PGA Champion Peter Jacobsen and architect John Harbottle III. The Carson River and lush wetlands come into play on 14 of 18 holes, demanding long, straight drives and precise approach play. Set at the base of the Sierra Nevada in Carson Valley, the course hosted U.S. Open Qualifying in 2014 and has been consistently rated among Nevada's top public courses. At 7,263 yards from the tips with a slope of 134, it is a genuine championship test for serious players.

The Ranch Course at Genoa Lakes Golf Club is a high-desert championship layout designed by PGA Tour champion Johnny Miller and architect John Harbottle III, opening in 1998. Located 2 miles from the Lakes Course at the base of the Sierra Nevada foothills, the Ranch is a dramatically different experience — over 300 feet of elevation changes, more than 100 bunkers, wide open desert vistas, and a non-parallel routing that creates complete solitude on every hole. At 7,358 yards from the tips with a slope of 137, it is the more challenging of the two Genoa Lakes courses and a genuine bucket-list round for high-desert golf.
