Frequently Asked Questions
Golf the High Sierra has planned over 10,000 group golf trips since 2004. Here are answers to the most common questions about booking, pricing, courses, corporate events, and logistics — everything you need to plan with confidence.
How do I start planning a group golf trip with Golf the High Sierra?Call us at 1-888-584-8232 or fill out our online quote form. Share your group size, preferred dates, budget range, and which region interests you — Reno, Lake Tahoe, Graeagle, Carson Valley, or North Lake/Truckee. We handle everything from there: course selection, hotel bookings, tee time coordination, and a single contract covering all arrangements. Most groups receive a custom package proposal within one business day. What is the minimum group size to book with Golf the High Sierra? We accommodate groups of all sizes, from a foursome (4 players) up to corporate events and tournaments with 400+ participants. Group rates and preferred tee times typically begin at 8 players. Larger groups of 20 or more qualify for shotgun starts at most courses, subject to availability and timing.
How far in advance should I book a group golf trip? For summer peak season (June–September), we recommend booking 3–6 months in advance — popular courses like Edgewood Tahoe, Coyote Moon, and Old Greenwood fill up fast. Spring and fall bookings can often be secured 4–8 weeks out. Last-minute groups are welcome to call — we frequently have access to preferred tee time windows not publicly available. What regions does Golf the High Sierra serve? We specialize in five distinct regions: Greater Reno (8 courses including Wolf Run, Lakeridge, and Wildcreek), South Lake Tahoe (Edgewood Tahoe, Bijou, Lake Tahoe Golf Course), North Lake Tahoe and Truckee (Coyote Moon, Old Greenwood, Northstar), Graeagle (Graeagle Meadows, Plumas Pines, Dragon's Teeth), and Carson Valley (Carson Valley Golf Course, Genoa Lakes). We also book destination trips worldwide — Monterey, Las Vegas, Mesquite, Palm Springs, Scotland, Bandon Dunes, and more. Does Golf the High Sierra charge booking fees? No. Golf the High Sierra charges no booking fees. We have direct relationships with every course and hotel in our network, built over 20+ years of operations since 2004. Our revenue comes from volume partnerships — you pay the package rate with nothing added on top for our coordination services.
Does Golf the High Sierra have experience planning large group golf trips?Yes. Golf the High Sierra has been planning group golf trips since 2004 — over 20 years of operations. We have coordinated more than 10,000 golf outings ranging from foursomes to corporate events with 400+ participants. Our direct course relationships and volume partnerships provide preferred tee time access and pricing not available through public booking channels.
How much does a group golf package cost in Reno or Lake Tahoe?Package pricing varies based on group size, course selection, hotel category, and season. A Reno-area package with 2 rounds and 2 nights lodging typically ranges from $250–$450 per person. Lake Tahoe packages at premium courses like Edgewood Tahoe or Old Greenwood with resort accommodations typically range from $450–$900 per person. All pricing is customized — call us at 1-888-584-8232 or request a quote for your specific dates.
Do I pay one price or deal with multiple vendors? One contract, one deposit, one payment. Golf the High Sierra coordinates all vendor arrangements — golf courses, hotels, transportation, and optional dining — under a single agreement. You never deal with multiple invoices or separate vendor bookings. Group coordinators bringing 10 or more rooms are eligible for a complimentary stay-and-play package.
How does the payment and deposit structure work?We require a single deposit to secure your entire package — courses, hotels, and all arrangements. The deposit amount varies by package size and lead time. Your group attendees can pay Golf the High Sierra directly, or pay through the group coordinator's Stripe account via our proprietary Online Registration Portal, which is provided complimentary with all bookings.
What is Golf the High Sierra's cancellation policy?Cancellation terms are specified in your package contract and vary based on how far in advance you cancel and which courses and hotels are included. We understand plans change and work with groups to reschedule wherever possible. For specific terms, contact us at 1-888-584-8232 or info@golfthehighsierra.com. Can casino credit be used for rooms in the package?Yes. For Reno hotel-casino packages (Nugget, Eldorado at the Row, Silver Legacy, Grand Sierra Resort, and others), casino credit can typically be applied toward room charges. Golf the High Sierra handles the golf coordination and tee times while you direct casino credit toward your hotel stay.
What perks does the group coordinator receive?Group coordinators who book 10 or more hotel rooms receive a complimentary stay-and-play package — room and golf included at no charge. This is our standard coordinator benefit, not a promotional offer. The coordinator also gets access to our proprietary Online Registration Portal, which manages attendee registrations, collects payments, and tracks RSVPs for the entire group.
How many golf courses does Golf the High Sierra work with?We have active relationships with 22+ golf courses across Greater Reno, Lake Tahoe, Graeagle, Carson Valley, and North Lake/Truckee. This includes public courses, resort courses, and select private clubs not available to the general public. Explore all Lake Tahoe golf courses and Reno golf courses in our network. Can our group play multiple courses on the same trip?Absolutely — multi-course itineraries are our specialty. Most groups play 2–4 different courses over a 3–5 day trip. We'll recommend the best combination based on your group's skill levels, budget, and schedule. Popular pairings include Edgewood Tahoe + Coyote Moon for a premium Lake Tahoe experience, or Wolf Run + Wildcreek + Lakeridge for a Reno circuit.
What are the best golf courses near Lake Tahoe for groups?Top group golf courses near Lake Tahoe: Edgewood Tahoe (championship South Shore course, host of the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship), Coyote Moon (Golf Digest Top 100 in Truckee), Old Greenwood (Jack Nicklaus Signature course), Northstar Golf (resort setting), and Tahoe Donner (great for mixed skill levels). We have preferred tee time access not shown on public booking sites. See all Lake Tahoe golf courses. What are the best golf courses near Reno for groups?Top Reno-area courses for groups: Wolf Run Golf Club (best-conditioned public course in Reno), Lakeridge Golf Course (elevated views, intermediate-friendly), Wildcreek Golf Course (scenic 27-hole facility), Washoe County Golf Course (affordable, great for budget-conscious groups), and Arrowcreek Country Club (semi-private, available for group events). See all Reno golf courses. Does Golf the High Sierra have access to private golf courses?Yes — we have relationships with select private and semi-private clubs in the region not bookable through public channels. These are not published on our website. Call us at 1-888-584-8232 to ask about private course access for your group. When is golf season in the Reno and Lake Tahoe area?Golf season in Greater Reno typically runs April through October, with most courses open by mid-April. Lake Tahoe and mountain courses like Coyote Moon, Old Greenwood, and Tahoe Donner generally open late May and close mid-October. Peak season is June through September when all 22+ courses are open and weather is optimal. Reno Valley courses may be playable year-round in mild winters.
What courses do you recommend for beginner or high-handicap golfers? For beginner or high-handicap players we recommend Washoe County Golf Course (forgiving layout, affordable rates), Lakeridge Golf Course (intermediate-friendly with great scenery), Tahoe Donner Golf Club (beautiful setting, accessible for all skill levels), and Lake Tahoe Golf Course (flat, open South Shore layout ideal for higher handicappers). We always match course selections to your group's actual skill distribution.
What hotels does Golf the High Sierra work with? Can Golf the High Sierra book both golf and lodging in a single package?Yes — this is our core offering. We coordinate golf tee times and hotel room blocks under a single contract. You don't book courses separately from hotels. Everything is managed by Golf the High Sierra with one deposit and one point of contact, including room block management and rooming list coordination.
What perks does the group coordinator receive?Group coordinators who book 10 or more hotel rooms receive a complimentary stay-and-play package — room and golf included at no charge. This is our standard coordinator benefit, not a promotional offer. The coordinator also gets access to our proprietary Online Registration Portal for attendee payment and RSVP management.
Does Golf the High Sierra plan corporate golf events and tournaments?Yes — corporate golf events are a primary service. We coordinate full corporate golf tournaments including shotgun starts, on-course scoring, prize coordination, food and beverage, sponsor signage, and post-round awards ceremonies. We handle groups from small executive outings (12–24 players) to large corporate tournaments with 400 players. See our corporate golf packages for details. What types of corporate golf packages do you offer? We offer three main corporate formats: Executive Golf Retreats (small leadership groups, premium courses, high-end lodging, custom itinerary), Corporate Tournaments (shotgun starts, scoring, prizes, catering, sponsor holes, 50–400 players), and Team Building Golf Outings (scramble formats, flexible skill requirements, casino resort venues for mixed golf and non-golf attendees). All are fully customizable across our 5 regions.
Can you accommodate corporate groups where not everyone golfs?Yes. Several Reno hotel-casino venues in our network offer full resort amenities — spa, dining, entertainment, and casino floors — for non-golfing attendees. We also coordinate group activities including Lake Tahoe excursions, wine tours, and team experiences that run parallel to golf.
How far in advance should we book a corporate golf tournament? For corporate tournaments requiring a shotgun start, we recommend 4–6 months in advance for summer dates — courses reserve morning shotgun windows far ahead. Smaller corporate outings under 40 players can typically be booked 6–8 weeks out. Call 1-888-584-8232 to check availability for your target date.
Can Golf the High Sierra handle on-course branding and sponsor holes?Yes. We coordinate sponsor tee signage, branded hole setups, on-course activations, and custom scoring materials for corporate tournaments. We work with the host course to ensure your event reflects your company brand. Catering, photographer coordination, and post-round awards setups are also available.
Can Golf the High Sierra arrange transportation from Reno-Tahoe Airport?Yes. We coordinate airport transfers from Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) to hotels and golf courses throughout the region. Ground transportation for group sizes from a single van to full motor coach service is available. Transportation is added to your package contract — no separate arrangements needed.
What is Golf the High Sierra's Online Registration Portal? Our proprietary Online Registration Portal is provided complimentary with all bookings. It allows individual group members to register, submit personal information, pay their share directly to Golf the High Sierra or through the coordinator's Stripe account, and receive confirmation details. For the coordinator, it eliminates the manual work of collecting payments and rooming lists from dozens of attendees.
Can Golf the High Sierra book golf trips outside of Nevada and California?Yes. While our specialty is Greater Reno and Lake Tahoe, we book group golf trips nationwide and internationally. Popular destinations include Monterey Peninsula (Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill), Las Vegas, Mesquite NV, Palm Springs, Bandon Dunes Oregon, Myrtle Beach, Scotland, and Idaho. Contact us with your destination and we'll build a custom package.
Does Golf the High Sierra coordinate dining and group meals?Yes. We can include group dining reservations at partner venues — pre-round breakfast to post-round dinners — as part of your package. For Reno groups, we work with 65+ dining and entertainment venues at the major casino resorts. Catering at the course is also available for corporate events.
