The Reno-Tahoe Brewery Corridor
Most golf trips end at the hotel bar. That's fine. But the Reno-Tahoe region has a legitimate craft beer scene that goes well beyond hotel bars, and for groups that want a genuine after-round experience, it's worth building into the itinerary.
The geography helps: Reno breweries cover the casino corridor, Truckee has Alibi Ale Works steps from Old Greenwood, and the South Shore has AleWorX with views of the lake. Same 90-minute radius, entirely different beer cultures.
Truckee: Alibi Ale Works
Why golf groups love it: Alibi is right in Truckee's historic downtown, 5 minutes from the courses. The Prosser IPA is their flagship — clean, balanced, crushable after four hours in the Sierra sun. The patio fits a group of 15–20 without a reservation, and the kitchen runs actual food (not just bar snacks) until 9pm.
“We finish every Truckee trip at Alibi. It's become the ritual — even the guys who don't drink beer show up.”
— GTHS group organizer, annual Truckee trip
South Lake Tahoe: AleWorX
Why golf groups love it: The only brewery on the lake with actual lakefront views. Small-batch rotating taps, decent food menu, and a space that can handle a table of 12–15. Best for groups playing Edgewood Tahoe who want to stay in the South Shore bubble rather than driving back to Reno.
Reno: Revision Brewing (Again, Deservedly)
We covered Revision in Episode 1, but it bears repeating in this context: if your group is based in Reno and wants to combine the Tahoe brewery scene with Reno, Revision is the logical last stop on the return drive. 40 taps, handles big groups, stays open late.
How to Run the Tahoe Brewery Day
For a Truckee-based group: golf in the morning (Old Greenwood or Gray's Crossing, 7am tee time), lunch at the clubhouse, afternoon free, Alibi Ale Works from 5–7pm, dinner at a Truckee restaurant. Back at the lodge by 9:30pm. Tomorrow's tee time is at 8am and everyone's in decent shape.
GTHS handles the transport. You just tell us when you want to leave the course.
